The Return of the Living Dead Part II (1988) (USA)
Although as riddled with cliched characters as the first The Return of the Living Dead, this sequel is still fun to watch, and there are moments of genuine wit. The plot follows the same basic lines, i.e., a container with a zombie inside is busted open near a graveyard, and mayhem ensues, except that this time the zombies run rampant through the entire town, and not just around the cemetery.
This movie has more of a sense of intentional camp than the last one, but more in the writing than in the effects. There are some pretty decent effects for a low budget film. There's one scene where the upper torso of a zombie is crawling around, which is very realistic. One kind of funny thing is that they reuse some of the same actors from the first film, playing different characters.
I would say it's a bit of an improvement on the first movie, which is rare for a sequel. Good, clean zombie fun.
